The Village of Tinley Park has a full-time position available for an entry-level Planner I in the Planning Department.
Planner I is responsible for research, analysis, project review, design recommendations and other technical assistance on a wide range of planning projects. Reviews site plans for compliance with urban design standards, Village plans and ordinances. Implements master planning and small area plan projects.
Ideal candidate must possess knowledge of the principles and practices of urban planning with emphasis on urban design and land use regulations. A working knowledge of CAD or GIS, Microsoft applications, Photoshop, and Illustrator is preferred.
The ideal candidate must possess a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Urban Design, Landscape Architecture, Planning, or related field with up to one year experience in government or consulting environment.
Personal Profile: the successful candidate must be a skilled urban design professional; must be a team player able to communicate effectively and reliably; must be able to attend evening meetings and work extended hours when required.
Starting salary $43,471 with increase to $45,121 upon positive six month review. Excellent benefits package. Residency requirement: Planner I must reside in the Village of Tinley Park within one year of employment date. Hours: Mon-Fri 9-5 and some night meetings.
