Project Details
The University of Notre Dame engaged Hoerr Schaudt to transform a key open space along St. Mary’s Lake, near the historic Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes, into a multi-purpose landscape that allows visitors to reconnect with nature, gather, and reflect. With a lakefront trail running along the edge of the site, the team prioritized pedestrian circulation, balanced with enough seating for those looking to recharge and take in the natural beauty. The aesthetic quality of the finished landscape needed to reflect the ideals of the University, prioritizing key principles of the Catholic faith and the Prayer for World Peace.
