Project Details
Take Me to the River imagines water-based river travel as a part of the citywide transit and active transportation system. The concept, prepared as part of the Active Transportation Alliance’s Movers & Shakers Ball exhibition, piggybacks on recent investment and attention on the Chicago River Corridor including development, open space, trail, and restoration projects. This reimagination of the Chicago River as transit utilizes existing systems and infrastructure to bring people to the river both as a destination and a new corridor of transportation to improve connectivity, increase access to green spaces, and foster connection and stewardship to the River.
