Join us for an afternoon walking field session exploring the beautiful grounds of the Lake Ellyn Boathouse area. Then top off the day with light appetizers and drinks inside the Boathouse with friends and colleagues. We hope to see you there!
The Lake Ellyn Boathouse was originally designed in 1935 by local architect Frederick G. Walker and built by the WPA. In 2012, the team of Farr Associates and Environmental Consulting & Technology (ECT / formerly Conservation Design Forum) developed The Lake Ellyn Vision Plan – a long-term sustainable plan for the park. The team subsequently renovated the historic boathouse in 2016, attaining LEED Gold certification, and developed a shoreline master plan. Further park improvements were made, including a new playground, shoreline stabilization, and fishing piers. The most recent designs include the shoreline pathway by Nathan Troia, ASLA, of the Glen Ellyn Park District, and the entry garden by Austin Eischeid, of Austin Eischeid Garden Design LLC.
