Smitha Vasan,  SmithGroup, Architect

An architect, Smitha C. Vasan is an advocate for social justice through the lens and responsibility of design excellence. After studying architecture alongside and through urban design, she sees every design opportunity as a chance to make strategic, contextual understanding into just, built-world solutions. Smitha returned to Chicago from Miami four years ago and is inspired and intrigued by the City of Chicago as a place for opportune and experiential learning in spreading equity through design. Smitha brings a strong sense of attention to detail in combination with an innate ability to think compassionately about the end-users of any project. She is curious about how good design can positively impact and be available to the public, especially as it may be interwoven with other defining systems such as economy and health.
