ILASLA Webinar – Mi Espacio: Design for the Latino Community

José Luis Magán studied architecture at the Universidad del Valle (’83) in Cali, Colombia, and worked in the design and construction of architectural projects for over five years. He completed Master’s degrees in both Architecture (‘91) and Landscape Architecture (‘94) at Ball State University.

Subsequently, Mr. Magán developed academic programs for teaching design studios and theory of landscape architecture, architecture, and interior design as a university professor in Mexico and in Colombia. In 1999, he settled in the Chicago area, where he has worked in urban design and landscape architecture and public and private projects in the U.S. and abroad.

In 2009, Mr. Magán founded Accent Urban Design, a land planning and landscape firm in the south suburbs of Chicago. Since then, AUD has successfully provided design services for clients and projects in the Chicago and northwest Indiana region.  Mr. Magán has also has organized and conducted public meetings in Spanish and in English and given technical and promotional lectures in Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, and Panama.
