Project Details
The Tribune Tower is one of Chicago’s most treasured historic landmarks, located near the junction of the Chicago River and Upper Michigan Avenue. As the building was converted into luxury condominium units, the retail frontage of the original printing plant was redeveloped into retail flagship and boutique spaces, activating and reimagining the adjacent 3-acre pedestrian thoroughfare – Pioneer Court – into a vibrant gathering space for residents and visitors. It was designed to celebrate and complement the rich architectural significance of the buildings, while serving as a natural outdoor extension of the adjacent shops and a flexible gathering space for the public.
