join ILCA for “Summer in the City”!
Four years in the making, this insider tour will visit seven iconic public gardens in the heart of downtown Chicago. We’ve all visited these sites before, but do you know the “why” behind the garden design? How did building, installation, foot traffic, and weather affect plant choice? What hidden resources were used to achieve structure? When does maintenance become challenging? We’ll answer these questions and many more!
Every site has a STQRY (pronounced “story-cue”)
On top of personal interactions with the landscape professionals behind the garden spaces, the tour will use the STQRY app. STQRY is a web-based audio program that will thread each space together while you walk from garden to garden. STQRY will provide background, photos, and audio directly from your smartphone. Attendees are encouraged to bring headphones to maximize their experience and get the real “STQRYs” behind these remarkable garden spaces.
